In the middle of the last year my wife and I decided, that it would be a good thing to spent the end the year with my wifes family in Minsk. In the review this was a really good decision. It was my first real NYE-Celebration outside of Germany. I really enjoyed this delicious and also a little booze enriched way of celebrating the turn of the year. Besides the NYE we also took a trip to the datscha of my wifes uncle and visited a food-market. Actually we havebeen busy for three days. don’t you think.
Yes, my dear. This is Frankfurt. This is the place, where the good old Ludwig Van stands in the shade of the skyline. This is the city, where bamboo can be seen through a hole in the wall. This is the paradise, where people search for bottles in a dumpster. This is the urban zoo, where you can even see dragons. This is the town, where we stand at the crossroad. And this is jungle, where even people from China build a garden. Wonderful, isn’t it?
We went to the zoo in Frankfurt today, as it’s only seven meters from our house. The last time we went to the zoo, I thought, that It would be a nice idea to take pictures of the people staring in the animal-cages. Problem was, that time I didn’t had my camera with the last time we went to the zoo. So today was the day. BUT…. I will tell about this in another post, ’cause today I will show the side-products from this day. I have to tell you, that I really hate to shoot animals in a zoo. That’s because of several reasons. First: shootig animals is really boring to me. Second: there is always something between you an the object you are shooting, like glass or bars. But still I took some pictures today and it really made fun to look at and “develop” them. Anyway, my pictuers are not the usual perfect animal Image. But still I like them very much.
There are a quite some green spaces in Frankfurt worth a visit during summer. For example, if you want to have a bbq with friends and family you should go to the ostpark. There one can find defined areas, where you and your bbq-entourage are welcome. A really nice event is the open-air theater Stoffel. It always takes place in the Günthersburg-Park, near the metro-station Bornheim-Mitte. The program is really wide-spread with theater, concert, performances and so on. What really makes it cool: it’s for free. We went there yesterday an enjoyed or wine with two really awesome Jazz groups.
I also made really a bunch of pictures yesterday an decided to keep them colored. I think that really looks better with these pictures!

Am Ostermontag waren wir am Rheinfall in Schaffhausen. Das Wetter war fantastisch und ich hätte mich am liebsten in den Wasserfall hineingestürzt, so klar und sauber war das Wasser (Ich frage mich was unterwegs mit dem Wasser passiert, weil bei Köln sieht der Rhein dann eher nach Forrellen-Chemiestudium aus). Leider hatte das Wetter einen kleinen Nachteil: Meinen Plan, den Wasserfall mit Langzeitbelichtung zu fotografieren, konnte ich leider nicht umsetzten. Selbst mit einer Mini-Blende war da nichts zu machen.

On Easter Monday we were at the Rhine Falls in Schaffhausen. The
weather was fantastic and I would most gladly have jumped into the waterfall, the water was so clear and clean (I wonder what happens to it on its way down, because near Cologne the Rhine looks a lot like a chemistry experiment with trout). Unfortunately the weather did have one small drawback: my plan to photograph the waterfall with long-term illumination failed. Even with a very small aperture there was nothing to be done. |
